TBH: Holiday Redo

This article is dedicated to nurses, doctors, police officers, firefighters, active duty servicemen/women and all other great people who sacrifice their time with family to ensure our wellbeing year round! I thank you!!!

For the bulk of my life, the holidays have always been my favorite time of the year. From learning about the birth of Jesus Christ to enjoying the company of family over food, laughter, and storytelling. It was always an unexplainable energy in the atmosphere that brought joy to everyone. As of lately, I have yet to see the joy.

As many of you may know, I have been working in retail since 2013 and the busiest time of year for those in retail is October through December. This means the times where many are traveling to be with family, I'm working. I usually attempt to create and do activities that make me feel at home but, plans are usually changed due to scheduling conflicts.

I have experienced some not so cheerful attitudes, obscene language, and unnecessary conflict during this time which makes me want to go back to being a little girl even more! Although I love what I do, I wish there was a way to skip over this crazy season and hang with family instead. I DECLARE THAT I WON'T WORK RETAIL DURING THE HOLIDAYS NEXT YEAR! I need a holiday redo!

I want to relax, like really relax without thinking about work the next day. I want to not cry because I've been asked to come in on my off day or work overtime when I already scheduled plans. I may sound like a big baby, but this is how I truly feel!

I picture myself Freelancing and creating my own schedule!

I declare that I will schedule my work around my lifestyle and not the other way around.

I declare that the anticipation of the holidays will no longer put a sour taste in my mouth.

I declare that I will maintain my joy and help to make others feel the joy as well!
